Each person that accesses our services receives a needs assessment and tailored support plan to assist them in moving away from the risk of violence and abuse while building their independence and confidence.
We provide support with accommodation, personal safety, finance, parenting, substance misuse, domestic abuse, health, education, training and social integration as well as immigration and asylum advice.
As well as our in-house specialist support, Ashiana work with a wide range of external partnership agencies to ensure that we can provide a high quality, holistic service, tailored to individual needs.
Ashiana has over 30 years’ experience of providing refuge services for BAMER women who have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriage, honour based violence or other forms of violence. We have worked with victims of trafficking since 2009 providing accommodation to women and their children as well as high level support. Ashiana workers have an in-depth knowledge and experience of the issues facing this group, having build strong links and knowledge base we work successfully to enable service users to move on into safer, happier futures.
We work hard to raise funds to support women with no recourse to public funds. Some of the more destitute and vulnerable women are those that have no recourse to public funds and our aim is to support them with their housing, welfare and resolving their immigration status.
We offer a wide range of groups and courses aimed at supporting a woman in a safe, women only environment to enable her to increase her confidence and gain skills to move forward into a more positive lifestyle. Our programme varies in line with service user needs and consists of:

Many of the women that Ashiana support have no recourse to public funds. This means that they are not entitled to receive any financial support from the UK welfare system, this also includes accommodation. A Woman’s ‘No Recourse’ status can make her more vulnerable to violence and cohersion, many women endure abuse for longer periods due to feeling like she has no other choice and nowhere to go.
Ashiana continually work to raise funds to enable us to support these women. Please see Get Involved for ideas of how you could support these extremely vulnerable women and children.
We provide a drop-in service each week, offering one off support and information on a variety of issues as outlined above. The drop in can also help identify longer term support needs; at this point a support worker can be allocated.
Currently our drop ins are on Tuesdays at 2.00 – 4.00pm, contact us for more information.
From January 2017 Ashiana will work with other partners within the Sheffield City Region to offer groups, courses and support to remove barriers around accessing employment and training opportunities and will include activities and English language development support such as ESOL, conversation class and personal development support.
Sheffield City Region (BBO SCR) is an integrated, person-centred employment service for people with physical and mental health conditions, learning disabilities and complex needs. It’s based on Individual Placement Support, a “place then train” approach that’s shown to be twice as effective as traditional approaches. The BBO SCR Partnership will support 642 adults over the next 2 years to find competitive employment and training opportunities. BBO SCR has received £2.7million of funding from the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.
Ashiana can also provide cross sector training and community awareness raising sessions.
